Services for people with hearing and speech impairments

All services needed by people with hearing and speech impairments and people having difficulty hearing are available in the Grand Mosque. Several employees take care of and provide services to them. The best technical services are also available so that they may perform their worship in the Grand Mosque with ease.

The Special Prayer Hall:
A special prayer hall has been designed to meet the needs of people with hearing disabilities. In this hall, they are taught the Quran in sign language. Friday sermons, lessons and fatwas are also translated for them. It is located next to Gate No. 93 in the Grand Mosque of Makkah.

Friday Sermon and Prayer:
Worshipers with hearing and speech impairments go to the Grand Mosque to perform the Friday prayer. The prayer hall is prepared before they come. They follow the translation of the sermon into sign language. After the prayer, one of the sheikhs is invited to answer their questions, while an interpreter translates the answers into sign language.

Other Services:

  • The symbol signs service is available in the Grand Mosque of Makkah to help people with hearing and speech impairments access the various facilities of the Grand Mosque.
  • Distribution of a digital interpretation of the meanings of the Noble Quran in sign language.
  • Providing hearing aids for people with hearing loss during prayer times, sermons and lessons
  • Qualifying a number of teachers of the Holy Quran sessions at the Grand Mosque and training them on sign language skills.
